Energy Awareness Training

Energy Awareness Training
The Energy Saving Trust has created an energy awareness training resource specifically for local authorities in Scotland.

The energy awareness training programme aims to help local authorities use their influence to reduce energy use throughout their wider community.

Designed for local authority employees

Using a wide variety of training methods, the training raises Council employees' awareness of energy use issues.

The resource has been tailored to meet the needs of Scottish Councils and aims to help local authorities use their influence to reduce energy use throughout their wider community through:

  • improved energy habits of Council staff at home and in the office
  • raising Council employees' awareness of energy use issues.

Better awareness of energy use issues among staff enables them to influence the attitudes and behaviour of the public towards their domestic energy use.

Local authority commitment

The resource is freely available to all councils in Scotland and is designed so that the training programme can be run in-house with little need for external support. A commitment document has been devised for each local authority to sign, which outlines the percentage or number of staff to be trained over a specific timeframe.
