What is offered and who is eligible

Energy Assistance Package customer turning down his heating thermostat to save energy at home

The Energy Assistance Package is open to people across Scotland, helping make homes warmer and more energy efficient.

The package could help you in four different ways. There are different levels of advice and support depending on your circumstances.

1. Energy Advice

What’s on offer:

A free home energy check. This can gauge how energy efficient your home is and suggest practical changes and improvements. It can save energy and money and is especially for your home.

Who this is for:

Everyone. Call your local advisor on 0800 512 012 now, for your own free personalised home energy check.

2. More money in your pocket

What’s on offer:

A benefit and tax credit check, and access to the lowest-cost energy rates.

Many people miss out on money they are entitled to from benefits and tax credits – just because they don’t know it’s there. We can help find out if this applies to you. Some people discover they can get as much as £1,500 extra per year.

Energy suppliers sometimes offer people lower cost energy rates, called social tariffs. If it’s likely you’ll qualify, we’ll contact your energy supplier about switching you to a social tariff, so that you pay less for the energy you use.

Who this is for:

Everyone may be eligible depending on circumstances. Call your local advisor on 0800 512 012 now, for personalised advice.

If you are 60 or over and would like help to fill in the forms – let us know.

3. Insulation measures from an energy supplier

What’s on offer:

Free insulation from an energy supplier to make your home more energy efficient.

A big source of heat loss for many homes comes from un-insulated cavity walls. And if you have loft insulation that is less than 60mm thick you will also be losing a lot of heat through your ceiling.

This part of the package aims to make sure lofts and cavity walls are insulated and homes are made toasty warm.

Who this is for:

If you’re a home-owner or a private-sector tenant and receive benefits or are 70 or over, call us to find out more.

4. Heating and more insulation

What’s on offer:

Measures funded by the Scottish Government to make your home warmer and cheaper to heat, for example heating systems and insulation.

Who this is for:

If you’re a homeowner or a private-sector tenant, have lived in the home for at least 1 year, and are either pregnant, have a child under 16, or are 60 or over - call us to find out more.
