About the scheme
Energy Saving Trust Recommended is a certification scheme that manufacturers, suppliers and retailers can join to help their consumers identify the most energy efficient products in their ranges.
News from the scheme – successful boiler scrappage scheme in Scotland
In May 2010 the Scottish government launched a boiler scrappage programme that specified replacement boilers must be Energy Saving Trust Recommended. The scheme was fully subscribed within 24 hours!
The programme:
· had an intense level of interest, with the Advice network in Scotland receiving and handling the highest volumes of calls since it was established.
· is well on course to help over 4500 Scottish Households replace or upgrade their existing G rated boilers with Energy Saving Trust Recommended systems.
· will save around 4500 tonnes of carbon dioxide a year when complete. This is the equivalent to taking 1,530 cars off Scotland's roads, heating the water for over 6 million baths or heating 1,200 Scottish homes for a year.
News from the scheme – updated and new product standards
A successful ICT Consultative Forum was held on the 14th July for the revision of the Imaging Equipment, Display, Desktop and Laptop standards. Changes will be communicated to members and industry in mid August, following our Panel meeting.
We will have new Household Energy Consumption Feedback Products (e.g. Real Time Displays & Energy Monitor Plugs) standards in place and ready for you to register products on by mid August.
The Energy Saving Trust Recommended scheme objectives:
- To help reduce CO2 emissions from the household sector, and thereby help tackle the damaging effects of climate change.
- To signpost consumers to the best performing energy saving products available on the market using the Energy Saving Trust Recommended Certification Mark.
- To help transform the market for energy saving products by the setting of robust product performance standards.
- To increase volume sales of Energy Saving Trust Recommended certified products, compared with non-certified products.
